How you'll make a difference

As a Team Manager in the Emergency Duty Team you will make a difference by improving the quality of services provided to children, young people and adults across four local authorities (South Gloucestershire, Bristol, BANES and North Somerset). You will have a pivotal role in ensuring performance and quality standards across the team are met, particularly in the area of adult care and safeguarding and the service is delivered effectively to vulnerable people in the community.

This post offers a salary of up to £68,506 (including the 20% out of hours shift allowance and salary paid will be dependent on experience.)

 
What will you be doing? 
 
  • You will be part of the management team of a service which covers urgent social care and housing out of hours, including Mental Health Act Assessments and child and adult safeguarding.
  • You will work on a rota basis, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays, with responsibility for co-ordinating and managing the work of the team, including permanent and casual EDT officers and administrative staff, whilst on shift.
  • You will provide practice leadership, and a high level of support and supervision for all EDT officers in relation to practice and decision making in work with adults.
  • You will form effective relationships with other professionals and services working both in and out of hours.
  • As an experienced practitioner you will keep your professional skills and knowledge of legislation and practice up to date and on occasions, you may be required to act as practice educator to trainees.    

What we need from you

  • You will hold a professional social work qualification DipSW, CQSW, CSS , and be registered with Social Work England.
  • You will need previous experience of working in an adults statutory safeguarding role.
  • You will need previous experience of management or supervision.
  • It would be desirable for you to have experience of working out of hours. 
  • You will hold a current driving licence and be able to travel to various locations across the authority at very short notice in emergency situations.
  • It would be desirable for you to hold a post graduate management qualification, if not, you will have the willingness to undertake training.

Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.

You will be required to travel widely to a range of locations within the Authority so you must have a current driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle insured for business use.
